Accumulated Other Comprehensive Income

Accumulated Other Comprehensive Income (AOCI) is a financial metric used to represent the total amount of unrealized gains and losses that a company has accumulated over a period of time, but which have not been included in the calculation of net income. Examples of items that may contribute to AOCI include foreign currency translation adjustments, unrealized gains or losses on certain investments, and changes in the value of certain derivatives. AOCI is reported in the equity section of a company's balance sheet and is included as part of the comprehensive income calculation.
