Net Nonoperating Expense (NNE)

Net Nonoperating Expense (NNE) is a financial metric that represents the nonoperating expenses of a company after all nonoperating revenues have been taken into account. Nonoperating expenses are expenditures that are not directly related to a company's primary business operations, such as interest expense, foreign exchange losses, and other miscellaneous expenses. NNE is calculated by subtracting nonoperating revenues from nonoperating expenses. This metric provides investors with an insight into how much of a company's net income is being consumed by nonoperating activities. A high NNE may indicate that a company is financing its operations with excessive borrowing or is spending an unusual amount of money on non-strategic initiatives.
